I ended up taking a break from the site for a while after the holidays.  Life didn’t really change much from the status quo but for some reason it started to frustrate me a lot more (possibly because of the status quo).

But now I am back and will hopefully be getting back in the habit of updating regularly.  For now, though, I will leave you with this teaser of what might be coming down the line:

from the amazing xkcd.com

*This post title is a riff on the title of a book I recently read.  If you can guess what the book is then you are most likely a huge geek.

I am a facebook user but I’ve always been a bit of a wary one.  I first joined way back when it was a college only service because it seemed much cleaner and safer than the then networking giant Myspace.  I find myself using it less and less these days in exchange for my personal site and twitter.  In fact I think the only reason I keep facebook around is because it is still my primary (and sometimes only) way of communicating with old friends.

I’m interested, though, to see what the future of facebook is going to be.  Will they narrow their focus and carve out a specific purpose or will they attempt to refine their current jack-of-all-trades approach?  Will they remain the most trusted of social networking sites or will they go the way of friendster and myspace?  I’m curious to see what the future holds.

What do you think?

I’ve been meaning to write on here, I really have.  Due to sudden illness, though, my motivation to write a proper post has fallen somewhere between little to none.  In the mean time, though, I thought I would continue with my blog spotlight series by pointing you over to one of the best sketch comedy groups I have ever found on the Internet.  Okay, so it’s not actually a blog spotlight but bear with me.

A while back I discovered Loading Ready Run through the Unskipable series on The Escapist and eventually discovered that this group of comedians from Canada had been releasing sketch comedy videos on a weekly basis since 2003.

Check them out here (though I feel obligated to acknowledge not all videos are appropriate for children).

Blog Spotlight #3

You may know this already know this but I am a fan of Asian film and animation.  In my general love of media it holds special appreciation for me.  As a result of that I was able to discover a site called Japan Cinema.

Japan Cinema is a site dedicated to exploring and reviewing films from all over Asia (not just Japan).  The reviews are well thought out and through and it serves as a great resource for discovering new things and seeing just what is up to snuff in the field.  If that sounds up your ally then go check out Japan Cinema.

It is time for number two in my blog spotlight series.  Today I’d like to introduce you to Susan (or Susie as she recently became).  Susan’s blog, “A Slice of My Life”, is exactly what it sounds like.  It is simply stories from the lives of Susan and her family. From stories of impending empty-nesting to stories of odd things that happen early in the morning this blog manages to be both touching and hilarious.

Visit Susan here and say Hi while you’re over there.
